Invitation to UN Vesak Celebrations on 21 May 2011- Join in the Victorian Buddhist Community’s commemoration of Vesak 2011

2,600 years ago the Bodhisattva Siddhartha sat in meditation under the Bodhi tree in India to win enlightenment for himself and all beings. As we commemorate the 2600th year of Buddha’s enlightenment Victorian Buddhists from many traditions and communities will join together in an exciting program that is the Victorian Observance of the United Nations Day of Vesak 2011.
The United Nations Victorian Day of Vesak 2011 will be held on Saturday the 21st of May 2011 in the heart of the City of Melbourne at the Melbourne Town Hall. This year’s program includes the Vesak parade led by the Sangha from the State Library of Victoria to the Melbourne Town Hall, a Dhamma talk, an original musical stage performance and many other interactive activities. Please find the event programme attached.
Together with your temples support, the Organising Committee aims to provide a unique Buddhist event of local, national and international significance offering vast blessings and benefit for Victoria, Australia and all beings.
