Mahamevnawa Dhamma Program - Sunday 1st May 2011 - Canberra Temple

Special Sila Bhavana Sadaham Program to Celebrate 2600 Sri Sambuddha Jayanthiya Vesak Poya

The monthly Dhamma program in Canberra conducted by the Pinwath Swameen Wahanse from Mahamevnawa Asapuwa. This program includes two Dhamma Sermons, Guided Meditation sessions and a question and answer session for you to ask Dhamma questions from the Ven Bhanthe.
We invite you to come for the Dhamma program and participate in the meritorious activities at your convenience. The Morning Dhamma Sermon will be held at 7.30 am and the Afternoon Dhamma Sermon will be held at 1.00 pm. This is a rare opportunity for all of us to listen to the Sri Saddharmaya.

Wesak day celebrations 2011 - Canberra Temple

Australia Sri Lanka Buddhist Association of Canberra will be Celebrate Wesak at the Kambah Sri Lanka Buddhist Vihara on Saturday 7 May 2010.

Wesak day program start at 5:30 pm and will be consist of Colourful Thorana, Wesak Lantern display, Aloka Puja, Wesak drama by Dhamma and Sinhala Language School children and Bhakthi gee singing by several groups.

Sri Lankan food will be available for sale at the event.

Wesak poya Sil Program will be held on 15th May 2011 from 8:30am to 3:00pm at Kambah Vihara complex.

Religious activities:
•Offering of alms giving (breakfast and lunch) including the evening 'Puja' to the Lord Buddha and resident Thero (incumbent monk) and reciting of Sutras', daily thrice a day;
•Conduct and organise three full-moon day' (which are called Poya Days) anniversary programs (Vesak, Poson and Katina) that are important for Buddhist and other monthly full-moon day religious (Sill) programmes from 8:00 am to 4:00 p.m. for adults in the temple;
•Conduct annual Sil program from 9:00 am to 1:00 p.m. for children in the temple; and
•Participate in special religious events in temples/houses of Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Burma, Cambodia and interstate temples of Sri Lanka.

Vas Season (Rainy Season) 2010

This year Annual Vas Pinkam series organized by the temple will begin on 25 July 2010 with the observance of Rainy Season by the resident monks of the temple.

Members of community will invite monks to resident in temple for this vas season on 25th July during mid day dhanne session.

Exposition of Sacred Buddha Relics in Canberra

27th 28th & 29th MAY 2010


Sri Lanka High Commission and Royal Thai Embassy in Canberra, organised an exposition of Lord Buddha's Relics in Canberra with the support of Buddhist Federation of Australia and Australia Sri Lanka Buddhist Association of Canberra.

The Most Venerable Wendaruwa Sri Upali Nayaka Thero, the Chief Incumbent Polonnaruwa Solosmasthana Rajamaha Viharaya, has offered the Buddha's Relic to the Most Venerable Sudham Tiravanich (Sudhammo Bhikkhu), President of the Buddhist Federation of Australia (BFA) on 29th June 2009 in order to be preserved in a shrine at Wat Phra Dhammakaya temple in Sydney, Australia for the blessing of all Australia.

10.00 am Commencement of the program

10.00 – 10.30 am Relics to be escorted in with traditional Sri Lankan dancers / drummers (magul bera)

Perform traditional Buddhist religious rituals, i.e offering of gilan pasa, offering flowers, lighting incense etc

10.30 – 11.00 am Buddhist religious chanting

11.00 – 11.30 am Speeches
